Switzerland Canyon Trampoline

If you’re planning a trip to Switzerland with kids, this is one of those experiences you don’t just stumble into. You add it to your bucket list on purpose.

This is the giant spider net in📍Gletscherschlucht, a glacier carved into Grindelwald.

📍 Where

Grindelwald, Switzerland click above for the exact pinned location. We drove right up to the entrance, and parking is free.

How to get there

  • Train: Take the train to Grindelwald Bahnhof
(typically via Interlaken Ost → Grindelwald)

    • From the station, hop on the local bus toward Gletscherschlucht

  • Car: You can drive straight to the entrance and park

    💰 Cost

    • Adults: CHF 21 (about $26 USD)

    • Children (under 16): 11 CHF (~ $13 USD)

    • Children UNDER 6 are FREE
***If you have a GRINDELWALD GUEST CARD the tickets are discounted 2 CHF. Our hotel provided these for free, so make sure you check your lodging for discounts.

    • Food: There is snacks at the entrance, typical Switzerland prices I would suggest you eat before or bring your own.

What to expect

Once you buy your tickets, you walk right along the path carved through the canyon. The walk is through lots of waterfalls and you go through short tunnels that can be quite dark at times.

The walk is not far (less than 30 minutes) until the spider web net. You can keep walking through, eventually it ends and you walk the same path back.

We loved it because…

When else do your kids get to jump on a net suspended over a rushing river, drink mountain water straight from the source, and walk in a canyon through waterfalls?

One thing I wish had been different: the rain. Even in the summer, the rain made it really cold in the canyon. Luckily we had come from Iceland where we had rain gear and warm clothes.

Don’t miss taking a sip….

The natural mountain water fountain near the canyon. Cold, fresh, straight from the source. HB thought it was the coolest part of the whole walk.

The walk is an out-and-back, so you can turn around whenever you want.

How Long Does It Take?

  • 1–2 hours total

  • About 2 km round trip (just over 1 mile)

  • Entirely self-paced

Is This Good for Kids?

Yes, here is why it is kid-friendly

  • All the walkways are secure so there is no exposed areas for them to slip even on the net.

  • Out and back so you can turn around whenever

  • Hands on fun - the net, tunnels and the water fountain is even fun

This is such a fun stop for fearless, curious kids and also for kids who just need a little reassurance and a hand to hold.

Good to know:

  • No strollers (carrier or walking only)

  • Wear grippy shoes, because it is all paved it can be slippery when its wet.

  • Bring a warm layer, it stays cool in the canyon

Is It Safe?

Short answer: yes, safer than it looks.

The net looks intimidating, especially in the rain, but everything is engineered to hold multiple adults. It is the same reinforcements with anchors used in industrial-grade netting and bridges.

The walkways feel are paved and solid and all fenced. If you don’t want to walk on the net you don’t have to. But it is definitely worth the expereince.

QUICK NOTE
If your kid has smaller feet, be mindful of the net. We almost lost HB’s shoe because it got stuck in the net at the very end. Luckily, it did not fall through.
