Floating Taco Resturant!

Floating with Tacos: Visiting Lime Out in the Virgin Islands with Kids

I wish this type of taco Tuesday will find you because floating around the Caribbean, sipping on a piña colada, while your kids swim is a must do. Welcome to Lime Out the coolest taco resturant boat experience in the Virgin Islands.

And yes, it's actually a floating taco bar in the middle of the water. It's exactly as magical (and kid-friendly) as it sounds.

How to Get There with Kids

There are a few ways to reach Lime Out, but if you’re bringing kids, you’ll want something easy and safe.

Lime out has their own charter that you can take BUT they don’t allow children under the age of 6 even if they know how to swim.

So, we booked a boat charter through FlyOut that dropped us right by Lime Out’s restaurant. Once you get off the boat you can walk / doggy paddle to the resturant float of your choice. They had a little pathway that was about 5 feet deep.

Tip: Lots boat charters also include a few snorkel stops in their pricing. We chose just to hop on over direct so we could stay as long as we wanted.

Why Lime Out is Surprisingly Kid-Friendly

  • Floating Bar: You don’t have to stay on the floats you can actually hang out at the bar.

  • Casual Vibe: No "shhh-ing" kids or worrying about table manners.

  • Food They'll Actually Eat: The tacos are fresh and simple. Our daughter devoured the bbq taco and claimed the side of guac as her personal treasure.

  • Fish Feeding Show: If (when) a little taco filling accidentally falls into the water, it’s an instant fish feeding frenzy. Honestly, better entertainment than any type of dinner and a show entertainment

What We Ordered (don’t judge we wanted to try it all)

  • Short Rib Taco: This was my 4 yo’s favorite.

  • Ceviche Tacos: 10/10 recommend for the grown-ups.

  • Shrimp Taco: My Favorite.

  • Virgin Piña Colada for the little one + Hunter’s Passion and Mango Mako for us 🍹: Because it’s vacation.

FYI: The tacos are surprisingly yummy for being all the way in the ocean.

What to Pack

  • Sunscreen (reef safe!)

  • Hats and rash guards

  • Towels

  • Waterproof bag for your phones

  • Floaties or life jackets for younger kids

  • Card (they only accept cards)

Final Thoughts

Honestly, I know one day I will be back. Lime Out was a highlight of our Virgin Islands trip, an easy, fun, and memorable outing for the whole family.

If you’re looking for a place that checks the boxes for unique, delicious, and kid-friendly, Lime Out absolutely floats to the top. (See what I did there?)

Would I bring my kid again?

100%. She’s still talking about "the floating taco place" and asking when we can go back.
